Work stars on new Jurassic themed adventure golf course

East Devon District Council has begun work on a new Jurassic themed artificial nine-hole adventure golf facility next to the play area at Seafield Gardens in Seaton.

The new mini golf course, which will be used by both local residents and visitors to Seaton, is being funded by money collected by the council from developers for new homes they have created in Seaton. The council chooses to let the local community decide how to spend this money. Rare bird causes a twitch at Seaton Wetlands

More than 200 bird watchers flocked to East Devon District Council's Seaton Wetlands nature reserve to see a rare vagrant bird, a Least Sandpiper, on Wednesday August 3.

The Least Sandpiper was first spotted on Black Hole Marsh on Tuesday evening (August 2). Crackdown on beach hut crime in East Devon

East Devon District Council’s StreetScene team is taking positive steps towards cracking down on criminal damage to beach huts by proactively working with officers from the Seaton Neighbourhood Policing Team to inform beach hut owners on different ways to protect their huts.

Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal was in the East Devon seaside town of Seaton on Thursday 14th April visiting the town’s newest tourist attraction, Seaton Jurassic.

Scouts add a sparkle to Seaton Wetlands

The 1st Lym Valley Scout group had a wonderful morning down at Seaton Wetlands on March 20, as part of their weekend adventure.

After camping at Seaton Scout hut, the Scouts walked to Seaton Wetlands nature reserve to undertake an orienteering challenge. They worked together to navigate their way around Colyford Common and back to the Wetlands Reed Base.

After a well-earned picnic lunch the group spent some time cleaning the windows on three of the bird hides. Visitors to the Wetlands will now get an even better view of the wildlife on site thanks to the Scouts.

Countryside volunteers help save bat

A poorly Daubenton’s Bat, spotted at East Devon District Council's Seaton Wetlands nature reserve was, after several weeks of care, released on Good Friday.

On Sunday March 13 at 1.30pm, a bird watcher saw a bat flying around the pond, in the heart of Seaton Wetlands. The bat, which should have been hibernating, was clearly distressed. It had strong sun shining on it and was flying into things.

Police hunt man after knifepoint robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses following a knifepoint robbery at Woodfield Stores and Video, Primrose Way, in Seaton.

A man entered the store around 12.35pm on Friday 1 April and demanded money from the till.

During the incident around £175 was taken and the cashier was threatened with a knife by the suspect; the cashier was left shaken but unhurt.
