Police appeal for witnesses after Sidwell Street assault

Police are appealing for information following an assault on a woman in Exeter. Between 1am and 2am on Saturday 26th January, the 21-year-old was walking alone along Sidwell Street onto Blackboy Road when she was assaulted by a man.

He is described as white, 6’ 1” and between 30 and 40 years old. He was of medium build and had short blonde hair, a small blonde beard and wore a white and red flannel top.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call police on 101 quoting crime ref. DE/13/802.

John Lewis building teams "working late into night"

As staff were putting the final touches to displays inside the impressive new John Lewis bulding, outside was a different matter entirely.

With little over two days to go until opening, the area still resembles a building site where the pavements are being widened to make it much easier for pedestrians to cross between High Street and Sidwell Street.

John Lewis workers race against time ahead of opening

Workers were today busy stacking shelves and polishing off displays ahead of the much-anticipated opening of John Lewis on Friday.

Yesterday members of the media were given an early tour around the new department store, including The Exeter Daily editor Natalie Vizard.

"It has a real 'wow' factor," she said.

"The attention to detail is incredible and I think shoppers are going to be impressed by what is on offer."

Meanwhile work continued late into the night at the junction of Sidwell Street and New North Road.
