Quiz raises record amount for charity

Exeter’s 12th annual Really Big Quiz once again broke its fundraising record, raising an impressive £8,141 for the Lord Mayor of Exeter’s charity, Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF).

Organised by chartered accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards, the quiz took place at the Corn Exchange in Exeter on Wednesday 13 May. The hall was packed with 73 teams representing local firms, all eager to win the title of Exeter’s brainiest business.

A leading Devon accountancy firm has raised almost £10,000 for local and national charities.

Simpkins Edwards LLP, which has offices across the county in Exeter, Barnstaple, Okehampton, Heathfield, Holsworthy and Honiton, specialising in family owned businesses, raised a total of £9,616.11 for charitable causes during 2014.

Exeter’s 11th annual Really Big Quiz broke its fundraising record once again, raising an impressive £6,200 for the Lord Mayor of Exeter’s charity, Ataxia UK – which funds research into a group of neurological disorders that affect balance, co-ordination and speech.

Organised by chartered accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards, the quiz took place at the Corn Exchange in Exeter on Wednesday 7 May. The hall was packed with 70 teams representing local firms, all eager to win the title of Exeter’s brainiest business.

Exeter Citizen’s Advice Bureau has said that the Government must do more to work for “those who are making do and can’t save” and warns that many of the government’s austerity cuts “have yet to bite”.
