Persimmon first in South West to sign up for FirstBuy 2

Persimmon Homes will be the first housebuilder in Devon and Cornwall to offer prospective home buyers access to the Government’s FirstBuy 2 scheme after signing up with the Homes & Communities Agency.

Nationally, 281 of the group’s Persimmon and Charles Church developments will offer the scheme, with a possibility of further sites being added at a later date. Across the South West region at least ten of the developments will offer the scheme. Home buyers can reserve their new home using the scheme from this week for legal completions from 1st April, 2013 to 31st March, 2014....

University of Exeter delivers a month of sport for all

Throughout February the University of Exeter will be holding International Sport Month. International Sport Month offers all students the opportunity to try and experience a wide range of sports and events including football, volleyball, golf and the Rugby Varsity. Anyone can take part in the activities, which are largely free and occuring around Streatham Campus.

Star Count 2013 – Help restore serenity of dark skies

Rural campaigners and astronomers are calling on our nation’s ‘citizen scientists’ to take part in Star Count 2013 – a cosmic census which will help map light pollution across the country. Stargazers will be asked to count the number of stars they can see (with the naked eye) within the constellation of Orion. The national Star Count will take place Friday 8th February – Saturday 16th February. Everyone who joins in will have a chance to win a fantastic telescope. [1]

Police appeal for sightings of missing Plymouth boy

Police are trying to locate the whereabouts of Kharim Rhony, a 15-year-old boy missing from foster parents. He was last seen at his address in the Stoke area of Plymouth intending to go swimming at the Life Centre.

He is described as being of Arabic appearance with dark olive skin. He is 5ft2in tall, with a slight build and short, curly hair.

He was last seen wearing a blue hoody, blue jeans, white canvas shoes and gloves. He was also carrying a black backpack.

New activities for young people in Exmouth

Devon County Council's Devon Youth Service in Exmouth is starting new Wednesday evening sessions for people in school years seven and eight.

Between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, the Hive youth centre on Imperial Road is arranging activities including arts and crafts, table tennis, hall games, karaoke, cooking and more.

The sessions are run by two qualified youth workers with young volunteers.

The Hive provides a range of activities for young people throughout the week, including:
