Exmouth’s Christmas spirit has been given an extra festive boost with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the heart of the town.

Exmouth town’s Christmas display on the Strand has been lit up with new fairy lights and festive decorations, thanks to local businessman Marcus Di-Vincenzo, from solar energy firm, MIG Renewable Technologies.

The tree which is placed in the town centre each year is usually dressed with a simple set of fairy lights, but is always left looking a little bit bare, according to the renewable energy enthusiast.

Sidmouth trees to be cut back for public safety

Work aimed at improving the safety of walkers in the Byes in Sidmouth starts on Monday 8 December.

A row of Poplar trees in Sidmouth are to be cut back by tree surgeons for the safety of the public.

The six large trees at the end of Water Lane have been shedding heavy branches onto the footpath at frequent intervals during the year.

The trees have been inspected by an East Devon District Council Tree Officer, who has recommended that they should be reduced to around 15 metres (45 to 50 feet).

The trees will be cut back in such a way as to mimic storm damage...

Killerton garden near Exeter is a blaze with autumn colour from deep burgundies, brazen coppers to fiery yellow hues.

As part of the estate’s Victorian plant-hunting legacy, the garden showcases a variety of shrubs, trees and plants that produce colour through the seasons. Devon clears up after storm

Highways teams across the county have been busy clearing up after last night’s severe winds and heavy rain, which have left fallen trees and debris across the county's road network.

So far, 81 fallen trees have been reported, including on many of the major A roads. Devon and Cornwall Police have received more than 200 calls about damages caused by the weather..

Several areas have also become flooded as a result of the heavy rain. The Environment Agency has issued 9 flood warnings in the South West region with warnings to those on the River Teign and Exe to prepare a flood...

Paignton Zoo Environmental Park is marking the role South Devon played in the career of the man regarded around the world as the father of modern tree surgery.

John Davey served a six-year apprenticeship in horticulture and landscape gardening in Torquay. He moved to the US and became a leading tree expert, publishing his first book, 'The Tree Doctor', in 1901.
