Rugby World Cup bases confirmed

England Rugby 2015, the Organising Committee for Rugby World Cup 2015, has announced the list of 41 Team Bases which will host the 20 participating teams during the Tournament, taking place between September 18 and October 31 2015.

Romania and Georgia will be based at Woodbury Park Hotel and Golf Club and Bicton College and Tonga will be based at the Univeristy of Exeter.

Freshers urged to get MenC vaccine

Public Health England (PHE) is urging new students (freshers) to ensure they get vaccinated against meningococcal C (MenC) infection before beginning university in September.

In the UK, all children are offered MenC vaccine to protect them against MenC infection but, as the protection offered by the vaccine can wane, a booster for teenagers was added last year. For the next few years, university freshers will also be eligible for vaccination, until the teenagers who have had the booster reach university age.

Outstanding A Level results for Devon's outstanding college

A Level students and staff at Exeter College, have continued a year of outstanding news with today's announcement of a 99.5% pass rate.

Over 780 students from across Exeter, Devon and Torbay received their A2 results today at the college and half have achieved the high grades A*, A and B grades, enabling them to progress to top universities in the future.

With these results Exeter will continue to rank amongst the country's top Sixth Form Colleges, as illustrated by an impressive 114 A* grades at A Level.

Students treat Devon's young carers to summer adventure holiday

Young carers from Exeter, East Devon and Teignbridge have been treated to a grand Summer Adventure thanks to student volunteers from the University of Exeter Students’ Guild volunteering group, Community Action.

Running from 4-15 August, 70 young carers aged between eight and 15 are enjoying a welcome break from the challenges and responsibilities of their daily lives and the chance to make friends with other youngsters.

University water sales raise £5,000 for Hospiscare

Retail and catering staff at the University of Exeter are proud to have donated over £5,000 to local charity Hospiscare.

For every bottle of Abbey Well Water the team sell throughout their catering and retail outlets, Coca Cola Enterprises donate 5p to the University’s chosen charity/project for that year.

The University of Exeter has been taking part in the scheme for over four years, supporting various charities and projects both in the UK and Africa and have helped to raise over £12,000.

As the current series of Dragons’ Den showcases some of the best (and worst) business pitches in the UK, students from the University of Exeter have been learning how to get it right.

A number of students took part in a pitching masterclass and competition in London on Wednesday (February 13), designed to teach them the dos and don’ts of pitching to investors.

University of Exeter historian, Professor Richard Overy has been shortlisted for a new American military history prize for his book ‘The Bombing War: Europe, 1939-1945’.

The inaugural Guggenheim-Lehrman Prize in Military History has selected six books for the $50,000 (approximately £30,000) prize supported by The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation and Lewis E Lehrman. Pioneering Green Unit Launches in Exeter

Exeter communities are set to benefit from an initiative by the University of Exeter Students’ Guild using a £300,000 funding boost from the NUS (National Union of Students) Student Green Fund project.
