Call for climbers to help ‘climb and clean’ Chudleigh Rocks

PEOPLE who use a popular beauty spot near Exeter for outdoor pursuits and activities are being urged this month (January 27, 2019) to get involved with a litter picking and tidying-up event on-site.

Walkers, hikers and climbers of all ages who enjoy Chudleigh Rocks (south side) are invited to join in with the voluntary clean-up event on Sunday, January 27 from 10am until 4pm.

Join us for a beautiful walk along the Exe Estuary Trail

This sponsored walk leaves Exeter Quay and partially follows the River Exe out to the coast where you can finish at Starcross or continue onwards to Dawlish.

The walk is fairly flat making it ideal for families and a range of abilities.

As the walk is along some of the River Exe, there are various train stations en route so if you feel that you want to shorten the walk then you can do, or you can continue to Dawlish.

140 walkers united to step closer to a cure for Parkinson’s on Sunday 24 June when they took on the Walk for Parkinson’s event at Budleigh Salterton in East Devon.

The walk was one of 37 taking place across the UK throughout 2018 to raise vital funds for the charity Parkinson’s UK. Fundraisers chose either a 1.2-mile, four-mile or 6.75-mile route along the South West Coastal Path from Budleigh Salterton to Otterton. Parkinson’s UK expects to raise £7,000 from the event. Bring all the girls together, dig out your pink tutus and bunny ears and join hundreds of women walking or running for Hospiscare.

The Twilight Walk is a 5 mile or 10 mile ‘PINK FIZZ’ themed sponsored walk along Exmouth Seafront with entertainment around the route, starting from The Maer, Exmouth.

We are also incoporating a new 5K Fizz Run which takes place before the walk.

Women and girls we have a date for your diaries! Saturday 7th July sees the return of the annual Hospiscare Twilight Walk . This year’s theme is “Pink Fizz”, so dig out all things pink to wear and there will be a glass of 'fizz' waiting for you on your return. The walk is once again kindly sponsored by Western Power Distribution.

The sponsored walk starts from The Maer, Exmouth and both routes take in stunning views of the coast. There will be entertainment at the start and along the route, and a well-deserved glass of 'fizz', a bacon sandwich and a cuppa at the end.

Thousands of people are being called on to unite against dementia by signing up for Alzheimer’s Society’s Exeter Memory Walk.

61-year-old Andrea Rodgers from Torquay, whose mum has dementia, is urging people to register for the event to help the charity raise money for research and services.

Andrea’s mum, Jean, was diagnosed with dementia five years ago. The family has been through ups and downs, and has recently had a stressful time trying to arrange alternative accommodation for their mum following the closure of her care home.
