Higher Uppacott is a grade one listed building of rare and national importance. It is one of the few remaining examples of this historic building type, which has retained its lower or shippon end (cattle shelter) in its original unaltered state. Walk home for Chrismtas and support wounded soldiers

Walking Home For Christmas is Walking With The Wounded’s charity event which supports our wounded soldiers.

The campaign will see thousands of people across the UK ditching the bus, car and tube and ‘walking home for Christmas’ to support those veterans who don’t have a home to walk to.

All the money raised will go towards WWTWs Home Straight programme which focusses on supporting wounded, injured and sick veterans who have become homeless and getting them back into work.

On Sunday 19 October BBC Radio Devon have teamed up with Dartmoor National Park Rangers to offer a FREE guided walk celebrating the wonders of Dartmoor on a visit to Tavy Cleave.

This superb high moorland valley where the young River Tavy carves its way through the moor is a fascinating place to explore. Jolly Good Jaunt raises over £10k for charity

More than 250 walkers and their dogs took part in A Jolly Good Jaunt in the autumn sunshine, raising more than £10,000 for local charity Hospiscare which supports people living with a terminal illness.

Walkers of all ages, from Exeter and all over East Devon, enjoyed either a five mile or 13 mile walk, starting and finishing at the Deer Park Hotel, Honiton.

The event was raising money for the Hospiscare East Devon Day Hospice £250,000 Appeal which is aiming to pay for the final phase of a £1.2m day hospice currently being built in Honiton.
