Groups of people visiting Dartmoor for barbecues and people driving over 15 miles to walk their dog– these are just a couple examples of the issues Dartmoor National Park Rangers are with dealing with during the Covid-19 emergency.

As the weekend draws near, Dartmoor National Park and the police are once again asking people to continue to stay home to limit the spread of covid-19 and help save lives this weekend.

EDDC Education Rangers prepare for busiest summer yet

2017 is set to be the busiest summer season yet for East Devon's two Education Rangers, with more than 60 groups already booked for a day’s outdoor learning experience, enjoying East Devon’s outstanding environment.

Alongside working with school groups, the rangers will also be working with cubs, scout, brownie and rainbow groups and running events such as Fun in the Stream, night walks, bug hunts and rockpooling for local families and visitors.

Beach fun for the kids

Following a popular programme of activities last year, the National Trust rangers in East Devon are once again running free family activities each Wednesdays of the summer holiday at Branscombe. Dartmoor rangers sign up to police initiative

Dartmoor National Park (DNP) Rangers and Devon and Cornwall Police have just formally announced that they will be working in closer partnership through the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS).

CSAS was introduced through the Police Reform Act 2002 and enables each Chief Constable to authorise the use of targeted powers by trusted organisations, which contribute toward community safety, and help tackle crime and disorder, public nuisance and other forms of anti-social behaviour in co-operation within their force area.

Family fun with woodland crafts

Education rangers from the East Devon District Council Countryside team will be running a Woodland Craft session on Tuesday 26 May between 1 and 3pm at Honiton Bottom Community Nature Reserve.

Activities on offer will include creating natural wooden jewellery, charcoal making on the camp fire, hammering plant flags and clay play.

The event is suitable for all ages, so come along for some creative fun in a beautiful green space. The nature reserve is at the junction of Honiton Bottom Road and Battishorne Way, and there are picnic tables and a natural play trail to enjoy....

Scouts enjoy ranger adventures at Knightshayes

On Wednesday 30 July, family and scout groups had a summer adventure with the ranger team at Knightshayes, the National Trust property on the outskirts of Tiverton. These visitors became National Trust rangers for the day by helping to restore a historic parkland feature to its former glory.
