Courtlands Boardwalk on the Exe Estuary Trail has re-opened following the completion of repairs.
The section of the Trail between Lympstone and Exmouth has been undergoing a major overhaul after it was found that timber structural beams and deck planks had deteriorated and become unsafe.
Over 94 tonnes of timber have been removed during the repair scheme, and it has been replaced with 70 new spans of a more durable fibre-reinforced material, known as Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP).

Dunsford Community Academy in Exeter has launched a series of environmental initiatives as the school progresses to winning its first Eco-Schools Green Flag award .
The prestigious Eco-Schools programme, which was launched in 1994, requires schools to follow a seven-step framework designed to empower young people to make a difference in their school. As part of the school’s action plan, it has launched a dedicated eco-council, led by Julia Balfour, the former Head of Ecology for the Royal Parks, who has previously worked with Sir David Attenborough.
The Tour of Britain will not return to Devon this year, but the county council hopes it will host stages again in the future.

The number of nature lovers who took part in the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch soared to a million people this winter after a year of lockdown restrictions saw people turn to nature for comfort.
Now in its 42nd year, the Big Garden Birdwatch is a chance for people of all ages to count the number of birds that visit their garden, helping the RSPB build up a picture of how birds are faring. The annual National Deaf Schools Track and Field Sports Day took place on Wednesday 5 July at Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre in St Albans, Hertfordshire. Organised by local Deaf school Heathlands, the competition saw 7 schools from across the country come together to compete in a variety of track and field events.
