Budleigh Salterton will soon play host to acclaimed musicians as part of this year’s Budleigh Music Festival, as tickets go on sale this week.

The week-long event, which starts on 30 June and is now in its 18th year, consists of both lunchtime and evening performances, and with ticket prices starting from £5 organisers are confident that there is something for everyone.

Rent a beach hut for the day, or week, at Budleigh Salterton

Seaside lovers can now rent one of the new beach huts for the day (or week if they fancy) at Budleigh Salterton.

The new ‘short-term hire’ beach huts have been commissioned and funded by East Devon District Council (EDDC) and include five large huts and seven small ones - were put up this week, replacing old structures that had come to the end of their natural life.

The general public will be able to make bookings through the Budleigh Information Centre from the 1 April until 23 October 2022.

Care home residents have a fizzy time with local business during lockdown

Staff and residents at a Budleigh Salterton residential home have been having a fizzy time creating bath bombs with a local Exmouth business, but in a safe ‘virtual’ way.

During lockdown, all care homes have had to close their doors to family, loved ones and their usual activity visitors.

Budleigh skate park receives £150,000 investment from district council

East Devon District Council is investing £150,000 in renewing Lime Kiln skate park in Budleigh Salterton.

The council worked in conjunction with a local user group to produce a design for a new longer lasting sprayed concrete skate park.

Versatile £15,000 sports wall will be an asset to town thanks to S106 contributions from property developers building in Budleigh

In a joint project run between Budleigh Salterton Town Council and East Devon District Council, a brand new £15,000 sports activity wall is now in place in the town.

Over 300 people in Budleigh Salterton originally had their say on how to spend money on outdoor sports in the town a couple of years ago – their priorities were for a new outdoor gym and foot/cycle path improvements for The Green. Both of these have happened now.

Award-winning authors and broadcasters headline Budleigh’s 9th annual Literary Festival

The line-up of best-selling authors and budding literary stars for the annual Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival has been announced.

Body found on East Devon beach

The body of a woman was found at Budleigh Salterton beach on Friday 14 August.

The body was discovered shortly before 6pm, not far from Steamer steps by a member of the public.

Police believe the body to be that of 48-year-old Jayne Brocklehurst, who has been missing from her home in Budleigh since Saturday 8 August.

A police spokesman said: “Formal identification has not yet taken place, but the family have been informed.”
