On 14th June, at a memorable Gala Awards Ceremony, the winners of the BestUKVets Awards 2023 were announced with PAWS IN PEACE being named Best Mobile Vets and Best Vets in Devon. In front of an audience of over 150 veterinary professionals in London, Paws in Peace scooped the accolade having gathered outstanding feedback from pet owner clients.

Pet business insurance provider Protectivity has launched a competition to find the best pandemic pet in the UK.

The winner will receive £100 worth of vouchers split between Canvas Creatures and Pet Planet, as well as a £100 donation to an animal charity of their choice.

Free microchipping for pets.

Cowick & St Thomas PCSO and CityVets have teamed up to promote responsible pet ownership by offering microchips completely free of charge. This is all possible due to the PCSO securing POCA (Proceeds of Crime Act) funds.

The microchips will be supplied by Pet Identity. The great thing about Pet Identity is that you can update any future changes for free.

Honiton children learn do’s and don’ts of responsible pet ownership

Responsible pet ownership is an important message that East Devon District Council’s Environmental Health team, supported by East Devon Eddie (the council’s canine mascot), is keen to convey across the district and what better way to start than by visiting schools to educate young pet carers of the future.

As part of a programme to introduce young people to the do’s and don’ts of owning and looking after a dog, East Devon Eddie has been sending out members of his team to talk to Primary schoolchildren in Year 2 and above.

Your pet may have a drink problem!

With summer in full swing, pet owners from Exeter show a surprising lack of awareness when it comes to their pet’s hydration and are happy to let them drink puddle water, milk and even the nation’s favourite brew – tea. A survey carried out by pet product expert, PetSafe®, to raise awareness about the importance of pet hydration, has found that over 6 in 10 (60%) of Exeter pet owners are unclear about how much water to give their pets to drink.
