Drivers asked to rein in their speed for horses

New roadside posters encouraging road users to slow down for horses and their riders are being displayed in parts of Devon.

Devon County Council is supporting The British Horse Society’s (BHS) “Dead Slow” road safety campaign, teaming up with the BHS , Horses & Road Safety Awareness (HRSA) and Vision Zero South West to promote the campaign in the county.

The aim is to educate motorists on how to approach and pass horses safely on the county’s roads, with the posters advising drivers to reduce their speed to a maximum of 10mph and leave at least two metres space....

Rare breed heavy horses celebrated at Devon County Show

This year and for the first time ever, the Devon County Show is to host The Festival of Heavy Horses.

The Festival provides an opportunity for Devon County Show going visitors and heavy horse owners to share their passion for these incredible gentle giants, many of which are now on the endangered breeds list.

People from all walks of life in Exeter are being urged to consider becoming magistrates as applications open in Exeter for this vital role.

The appeal is part of a national drive to increase the number and diversity of those volunteering across England and Wales.

Exeter Volunteer Fayre returns bigger and better than ever!

Exeter’s Volunteer Fayre is set to return on Thursday, 23 March 2023, 10.30 – 2.30pm and promises to be bigger and better than ever!

The fayre, which takes place at Exeter Cathedral , is predicated to attract up to 400 visitors - double the number compared to last year.

Proposals for the draft Exeter Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) will be on show to the public for two days next week.

A vehicle leasing company says customers should be given the choice to speak with a female employee from enquiries through to sales.

The Devon based company, Carparison, are offering customers the option of speaking to a female member of the team in an effort to make customers feel more comfortable when doing business with the automotive industry.
