The expanding cycle network in Exeter received another lift at the weekend, with the installation of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge.
The new bridge at Summer Lane completes the first two kilometres of Devon County Council's E4 cycle route - providing a vital connection between Exeter Arena/Exhibition Fields and Bettysmead Playing Fields.
It establishes a direct link which will shorten the route and will remove sharp deviations in direction, narrow shared paths, and the necessity to use a Toucan crossing on Summer Lane.

A series of overnight closures are due to get underway at Rydon Lane and Countess Wear roundabout from Monday (12 October).
Work is due to start on the installation of a pedestrian crossing on Rydon Lane on Monday evening, with the road closed from 8pm until 6am weeknights until Monday 26 October.
The three remaining arms of the roundabout will remain open while this work is carried out. The roundabout and Rydon Lane will be fully open during the daytime and at weekends.
