Plans submitted for new bridge and boardwalk on Exeter Quay

Exeter could get a stunning new waterside feature.

Plans have been submitted to build a brand new bridge and boardwalk down on Exeter’s Quayside. The new structure would replace the existing Mallison Bridge which spans the medieval leats on the north bank of the River Exe. The bridge had to be repaired in March 2017 after some wooden sections became rotten. After work was carried out, it became apparent that a long-term solution was needed. Exeter College has been named national STEM FE College of the Year and has received a prestigious award celebrating excellence in teaching in STEM.

Leading the way– nationally, in the teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics Exeter College, has received the Further Education College of the Year ENTHUSE Celebration Award from STEM Learning.

Held at The Royal Society in London, we were joined by dignitaries at the highly prestigious awards dinner to share our stories about the impact we are making on young people and adult’s STEM education.

Hospiscare supporters take to the skies to boost funds

Hospiscare supporters will be taking to the skies above East Devon on Saturday 18 August for a morning of skydives at Dunkeswell Airfield to raise funds for the charity, which supports adults with terminal illnesses in Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

Painting by Exeter pupil triumphs in CPRE Devon’s county-wide primary school competition

A picture by young artist Ava Perkins from Clyst Heath Nursery and Community Primary School in Exeter has won first prize in this year’s ‘My Outdoors’ competition, organised by the Devon branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England.

The judges were so impressed by eight-year-old Ava’s painting entitled Dartmoor that they awarded her the title of ‘individual winner’ in Key Stage 2.

There were lots of commendations too for Exeter schools Willowbrook, Ladysmith, and Wynstream.
