Devon Windrush Flag raised at County Hall to mark 75th anniversary

The Devon Windrush Flag was raised at County Hall today to mark 75 years since the Empire Windrush arrived in Tilbury Dock and its 492 passengers disembarked to begin a new life in Britain.

Members of the Celebrating Windrush in Devon group joined the Leader of Devon County Council (DCC) John Hart, DCC Chair Percy Prowse, Chief Executive Donna Manson, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Devon Philip Bostock OBE, and the Lord Mayor of Exeter Kevin Mitchell, for the flag-raising.

Marsh Barton Station opening date confirmed

The new Marsh Barton Railway Station will open to the public on Tuesday 4 July 2023.

The £16 million project has been delivered by Devon County Council in collaboration with Network Rail and Great Western Railway (GWR) and built by construction and civil engineering specialist firm GRAHAM.

The scheme has also involved the development of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge, which opened in April, improving active travel links between Alphington, Marsh Barton, and the Riverside Valley Park.

Tour de Barchester -  local care home workers take on charity cycling challenge

Cumberland Grange Care Home in Pinhoe was delighted to have been chosen as this starting point for this year’s Tour de Barchester. For the second year running, staff from Barchester Healthcare’s care homes and hospitals took on a gruelling cycling challenge this time from Exeter to Eastbourne and then on to Purley.
