With two months’ rain forecast to fall in 36 hours, a leading insurance comparison website is warning policy holders to be aware what their insurance policies do and do not cover for their home and cars.

Storm Christoph will sweep England and Wales from Tuesday, bringing up to 20cm of rain in places. Large areas of already saturated land and melting snow will push up river levels and increase flood risks.

Higher ground across the county is most likely to be affected but up to 50mm of rainfall could impact widespread areas, potentially leading to surface water and flooding.

A 10th Century silver Penny is forcing historians to reconsider the known history of Lydford, and in particular their understanding of its Anglo-Saxon coin mint.

Prior to discovery, it was thought no coins were struck in the ‘burh’ town of ‘Hlidanforda’ prior to King Edgar’s reform of the coinage in 973. That was until a chance discovery by a metal detectorist on 24 August 2020 whilst searching a Warwickshire field.

Posting the find to social media, Senior Coin Specialist, Gregory Edmund of Spink advised the unnamed finder of the importance of the discovery. Having...

Brexit and Devon County? Things aren’t as bad as they seem

January 1st has come, and with it the long and excruciating process of Brexit has been finalised. It certainly wasn’t easy on both sides, but it was harder on the UK, having its economy on the line here. While Exeter was predominantly against leaving the EU back in 2016, the rest of Devon county was certainly up for it - and Devonians have certainly had their reasons to be in favour of the decision.

Now, only a few weeks after the day of the split, it seems like things aren’t as bad as they could have been for the people of Devon county (certainly when comparing the situation to...
