Countdown star, Rachel Riley, is searching for your ‘hometown hero’ or ‘lockdown legend’ as part of the 2020 National Lottery Awards.

This year the annual search for the UK’s most popular National Lottery funded projects will, for the first time, honour individuals who have made an extraordinary impact in their community especially those who have adapted during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

New figures reveal more than £21,480,000 of National Lottery funding has been invested in good causes in Devon in 2018/19 alone.

Exeter Airport announces Exeter-Belfast City Airport route

Exeter Airport is to see the introduction of a service to Belfast City Airport from 28 August 2020 it was announced today.

Stobart Air, operator of Aer Lingus Regional, will base five ATR72-600 aircraft at Belfast City Airport.

The airline will operate up to 4 weekly return flights from Exeter Airport to Belfast City Airport this autumn with fares starting from £34.99 one way including taxes.

This commencement of this new route marks the only flight from Exeter to the island of Ireland with Aer Lingus Regional as a new airline at Exeter Airport.

Pay-by-phone on-street parking made more convenient

As more and more town centre shops start to re-open, Devon County Council is making pay-by-phone on-street parking as convenient as possible to help shoppers and commuters stay safe.

Cashless parking is already offered at Devon’s on-street parking meters, but the pay-by-phone service will switch to RingGo from next month (August). The new service will mean that users no longer need to pay a convenience charge and it is hoped that more will opt to use this way of paying.

TUI restarts summer holidays from Exeter Airport

TUI UK today reveals its summer 2020 holiday programme starting on 1 August from Exeter Airport, with flights to Spain, Greece and Turkey.

The UK’s largest holiday company is ready to take people on holiday again to 5 destinations between 1 and 7 August, including Lanzarote, Corfu, Dalaman, Palma and Zakynthos. Heraklion, Paphos and Tenerife will be added to the programme between August and October, with a total of 8 destinations accessible from Exeter by early October.

The first flight to depart Exeter Airport on 1 August will be to Palma, Majorca at 6:25.

Reminder to "share this space"

A reminder to “Share this Space” has been issued to everyone using Devon’s roads and paths this summer.

With roads and walking and cycling routes getting busier again as more people return to work and more visitors travel to Devon, the County Council is urging everyone to take extra care in Devon.

As well as sharing space, the authority is also calling on everyone to share the campaign messages. It’s promoting a "toolkit" on its dedicated Share this Space webpages which includes films, animations and graphics that can be posted on social media.

Latest bus timetables available online

Bus passengers are able to access the latest timetable information on “e-booklets” published online.

The timetables, covering all of the districts across the county and all service operators, have been published online on Devon County Council’s Travel Devon website .

The information is the most up-to-date available, but service times can change.
