Extra trains will run on Sundays between Exeter Central and Exmouth for Christmas, starting on 29 November and finishing on 20 December.
On these four Sundays, trains will run every half hour through the day, instead of the usual hourly service. All trains will call at Digby & Sowton, Newcourt, Topsham and Lympstone stations.
The additional trains are being run through a partnership between Great Western Railway (GWR) and Devon County Council.
GWR Regional Development Manager Dan Okey said: "Helping to support the local community and businesses we serve, I am...
Rob Baxter has spent this week reminding his Exeter Chiefs players to make home advantage tell in their quest for honours this season.
With just two home defeats in 14 months, the term ‘fortress’ has been touted loud and proud by many observers, including those within the Sandy Park corridors.
The impressive run of form has not only helped to secure vital points within the Aviva Premiership and progression within various cup competitions for the Devon club, but it’s also been the foundation from which Baxter has been able to build for the future.
People hoping to attend the TEDxExeter conference on 15 April 2016 will need to act fast when tickets go on sale at 10am on Tuesday 1 December.
Each year, since the event began in 2012, tickets have sold out faster than the year before.
Last year tickets for the popular event at Exeter Northcott Theatre were all gone in two hours, with concessionary tickets sold in 20 minutes. This year there will be twice as many tickets available, with a simultaneous livestream from the Northcott Theatre to the adjacent Alumni Auditorium at Exeter University. However, tickets are still...
A consultation reviewing how school crossing patrols should be funded and provided in the county is being launched by Devon County Council.
The authority is exploring ways to maintain the service while looking to save £250,000 from the service’s budget in the coming financial year. It is part of £110 million of savings required over the next four years.
Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highway Management, said: “We know how highly school communities value the crossing patrols. The County Council holds them in equally high regard and we...
With just four days to go until #GivingTuesday 2015, Exeter charity Rainbow Living is calling for local people to show their support for this global day of giving.

The campaign is supported by a wide range of celebrities and sports stars, including Miranda Hart, Casey Batchelor, Olympic gold medallist Hannah Cockcroft, Peter Andre, Downton Abbey’s Joanna Froggatt, former Dr Who David Tennant, and historian and presenter Dan Snow.
“The year just keeps getting better and better,” said Bee Hughes, Headmistress at The Maynard School in Exeter, as she quietly reflects upon winning Teacher of the Year at the recent Pride of Exeter Awards 2015.
“I was surprised to even be nominated and never expected in a million years that I would win! I was gobsmacked when they called out my name and then slightly concerned because I hadn’t even put any thought to an acceptance speech!”
Ms Hughes has worked tirelessly since her appointment in 2009 and, despite her protestations, being handed this award was a worthy...
It’s not been quite the same whirlwind start to the season as it was 12 months ago for Thomas Waldrom, but the Exeter Chiefs forward isn’t complaining as long as the Devon club continue to produce the winning formula.
England international Waldrom enjoyed an amazing first year in Chiefs colours, scoring 16 tries in total following his move from Aviva Premiership rivals Leicester Tigers.
His tally ensured he not only finished top of the touchdown pile for Rob Baxter’s side, but he was also crowned the first forward since Neil Back in 1999 to be the Premiership’s top try-...
