North Devon views chosen by blood cancer patients set scene for charity calendar

For fish and chip shop owner Mark Dimelow, the historic Exeter Quayside means more than to most people.

While visitors enjoy the cafes, ice cream and places to stroll, for Mark, Exeter Quayside has become a sanctuary, while he has been undergoing treatment for blood cancer.

Mark, 60, who lives in Landkey and has a restaurant in South Molton, is one of 12 blood cancer patients who have contributed to the 2025 calendar produced by the charity, Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF).

JMC Group supports Exeter Leukaemia Fund with transport service

JMC Group, a leading global aviation services company, announced today it is pleased to partner with the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) as its chosen charity for the next three years.

COVID 19 has had a devastating impact on charities revenues with mass event cancellations and charity shop closures. In a bid to weather the pandemic, local charity Exeter Leukaemia Fund (Elf) has been busy contacting celebrities and sports personalities with a plea for donations for their ‘Celebrity Lockdown Auction’.

Darts Farm continues to raise funds for local charities

During the summer months Darts Farm is renowned for its vibrant yellow fields of pick-your-own sunflowers and it’s superb ‘Maize Maze’. The beautiful flowers have raised a total of £5,034 this year for Darts Farm chosen charity, Hospiscare and the ‘Maize Maze’; a maze that’s constructed entirely out of the maize crop grown in the Darts Farm field, has raised a total of £3,061 for local charity ELF (Exeter Leukaemia Fund).

Cream teas help swell fundraising total for ELF

Ottery coffee shop Tickety-Boo has announced a total of £650 raised for Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF).

The most recent campaign held in June was free cream teas in return for a donation, which raised over £60. Around £134 came from the coin spinner in the Play Kingdom and just under £105 from the general collection box and donations from a cookie decorating event at the town’s recent food festival.

These totals were added to funds previously collected, bringing the grand total to £650.

Multi award-winning Cofton Holidays, based near Dawlish Warren in South Devon, is celebrating raising in excess of £2,000 for local charities over the past twelve months.

Charities donate ultrasound scanner to RD&E Vascular Access team

Two Devon based charities have donated a new ultrasound scanner to the Vascular Access team at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital to help them care for patients with cancer.

FORCE Cancer Charity and the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) jointly donated the machine to give the team more flexibility when preparing patients to receive chemotherapy treatment on the hospital’s oncology and haematology wards.

ELF welcomes bank's donation

Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) has received £5,000 to help fund a family suite for critically ill or end of life patients at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. The donation was provided by the Santander Foundation which offers grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities. ELF provides transport, accommodation and guidance services to families affected by blood cancers and blood disorders.
