An evening of Indian Cuisine with Monisha Bharadwaj

AWARD WINNING Indian Chef Monisha Bharadwaj is set to descend on The Magdalen Chapter in Exeter to treat guests to an insightful evening of Indian cookery.

The globally acclaimed Indian food writer and chef is famed for her best-selling books including Indian in Six, Healthy Indian Cooking and The Indian Kitchen, which have sold over half a million copies in 8 languages.

Monisha will be joining The Magdalen Chapter’s Head Chef Ben Bulger on Thursday 9 October to host an evening exploring Indian food and fare.

The menu will be based on dishes which use no more than 6 ingredients and will feature Sesame and Chilli Prawns served with Babycorn in an Ajowan Infused Batter, Kerala Chicken Curry with Coconut Milk and Curry Leaves, Hyderabadi Aubergine Curry with Tamarind and Jaggery, Butternut Squash Raita with Toasted Cumin, and Baked Milk Pudding with Cardamom, Pistachios and Almonds served with a Mango Coulis.

Monisha said: “I am delighted to be working with The Magdalen Chapter to bring a taste of India to Exeter. The country of Indian is vast and the regional and cultural differences mean that every few miles the food as well as the rituals associated with it change. This means the flavours are diverse, complex and exciting. Many think Indian cooking is tricky, however it doesn’t have to be. I hope to inspire guests to try their hand at Indian cookery from what they will experience throughout the evening.”

Previously named ‘Cookery Writer of the Year’, Monisha has a self titled London cookery school, Cooking With Monisha, and regular contributes to the top foodie titles and programmes including Elle, Delicious, The Sunday Telegraph, Great Food Live and the BBC’s Food & Drink.

Monisha specialises in smart and stylish Indian cuisine and has cooked for the deputy Prime Minister of India. After completing a degree in Hotel Management and Catering in Mumbai, Monisha has since worked as a food consultant to The Times of India group, creating menus for Bollywood film stars and high office politicians.

Tickets to The Magdalen Chapter’s One Night Only with Monisha Bharadwaj are priced at £35 and the event will start at 7PM. Guests will enjoy an informal evening including a three-course Indian feast in The Lounge and an intimate talk from Monisha. Booking is essential.
