Budleigh Farmers’ Market features on new YouTube video
A new web video by landowners Clinton Devon Estates has been released on YouTube to explain the importance of food traceability and the benefits of buying locally produced food.
The three minute film From Estate to Plate, features Clinton Devon Estates’ Ranger Tom Garner alongside fellow stall holders and local customers at Budleigh Salterton Farmers' Market, who explain the many benefits of buying local.
Tom, who is Chairman of the Budleigh Salterton Market said: “Consumers are more aware than ever about the source and quality of their food, and our customers who come to the market enjoy buying with confidence knowing which farm their food comes from.
“Deer management is an important part of the Estates’ overall land management strategy and by selling the meat locally, we have been able to limit our food miles– the distance that produce must travel to reach the consumer – to just six miles.
“Over the last five years we have created a successful local market for vension products and we now produce packs of roasting joints, fillet steak and casserole meat, as well as homemade sausages and burgers, to sell at Budleigh Salterton Farmers' Market and the local community shop."
The Budleigh Salterton Farmers' Market is held on the last Friday of each month from 9am – 1pm at the Rolle Street Mews car park just off the High Street. Stall holders sell a range of locally produced poultry, meat, eggs and dairy products, fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, cakes and much more.
