Multi-award winning Devon farmer, Peter Greig, who together with his family, runs Pipers Farm, a 50 acre farm just north of Exeter, has been appointed to the board of Farmers & Fletchers in the City, the official home of The Worshipful Company of Farmers and The Worshipful Company of Fletchers, which also operates as a commercial conference, meetings and private dining venue.

Peter will bring to the board a wealth of experience gained over 25-years running a successful farming enterprise that works closely with 25 local family farms to provide high quality produce that is sold via a bespoke mail order delivery service and to some of the South West’s top eateries and boutique hotels.

A lifelong champion of local food heritage, Peter is passionate about sustaining traditional farming values that have been handed down through generations. Throughout his farming career he has gained a wealth of practical knowledge of farming systems that sustain not only farmers, but also the countryside and the local community.

Commenting on his appointment to the Farmers & Fletchers in the City board, Peter said: “This is a very exciting opportunity for me to get involved in a positive way to help guide Farmers and Fletchers in the City operate to its full potential and raise its profile among potential clients.

“I have spent most of my life being a “hands-on” farmer working alongside other local famers to promote and preserve our rural communities.  I’m pleased that one of the important key aims of Farmers & Fletchers in the City is to support British famers as much as they can, in particular by buying from individual, specialist suppliers.

“An important added benefit of growing the business to its full potential is that any surplus profits generated are used to help the next generation of young farmers by providing various grants and award schemes to help improve and develop their skills.”

Farmers & Fletchers in the City is based at 3 Cloth Street, close to the Barbican in the City of London. It was closed for two years in 2013 to complete a £1.8m refurbishment and renovation programme.

Farmers & Fletchers in the City is now an elegant, contemporary venue, which was officially opened in September last year by HRH The Princess Royal.
