LHC take fundraising efforts to new heights
Exeter based LHC Architecture + Urbanism is set to take fundraising efforts to new heights this year, in aid of children’s bereavement support charity, Balloons.
Staff from the award winning architecture firm have already begun planning a wide range of fundraising events to help raise money for the charity, which is known for providing support to children throughout Exeter, east and mid Devon.
Formed in 2007, Balloons supports children, young people and their families before an expected death or following the death of someone important in their lives.
The charity offers a wide range of practical, emotional and social support through providing guidance over the phone, a chance to ask questions over email, face-to-face support and an opportunity to meet other people in similar situations.
The team at LHC have got their aprons at the ready in preparation for a series of seasonal staff ‘Cook Offs’. The spring challenge took place on March 2nd, when CEO of Balloons, Sara Bennett, made a visit to their office at Exeter Business Park, to talk to staff about the work of the charity.
LHC Director Glayne Price said: “Balloons is a fantastic charity and all of us here agreed it’s a really worthy cause for our fundraising efforts throughout 2016. We were thrilled to welcome Sara Bennett to our studio to give us an insight into their vital work. It’s very important to us that we support local charities each year, to give something back to our local community and support both the staff and volunteers who run these incredible organisations.”
Never seen to shy away from a challenge, several of the LHC team will also take part in a coast to coast bike ride in which the team will cycle 100 miles from Ilfracombe to Plymouth.
Sara Bennett, CEO of Balloons said: “Corporate fundraising such as this is vital to helping us to continue doing the work we do, supporting more bereaved children and their families in times of need. The staff at LHC seem to have some great ideas up their sleeve and we are really excited about what they have planned for the rest of the year. All of the money raised will go towards supporting vulnerable children after the death of someone they love, to build resilience and look towards a brighter and happier future”.
Each year LHC staff nominate charities to be the firms chosen charity of the year. In 2015 LHC supported both Kidney Research UK and the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust.
