Card payments not working at council car parks
Motorists parking in Exeter City Council pay and display car parks are being advised that facilities to pay by credit card are not currently working.
The City Council apologised for any inconvenience caused and is doing everything possible to rectify the problem. A spokesman said that a company working on behalf of the Council was trying to fix the problem, which was related to telecommunications, but it could take a number of days to resolve.
“In the meantime we would ask people to either pay by cash or the Pay by Phone system, which can be set up in advance by going to the Council’s website www.exeter.gov.uk/parking or when the customer goes to pay for a ticket. The three Pay on Foot Car Parks at John Lewis; Mary Arches Street; and Guildhall are unaffected," he said.
Motorists are also advised that the Guildhall Car Park will not open to the public until midday on Sunday (1 May), as further essential maintenance work needs to be carried out on the entrance gates. The Car Park will be open during the afternoon.
