RMT suspends strike action on Stagecoach South West buses
Bus Workers Union RMT has suspended its planned strike action across Devon.
RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said: “The union is able to confirm that new pay proposals have been tabled by management following intense negotiations.
“After careful consideration and noting this development, the union’s National Executive Committee has decided to suspend the planned industrial action. The union will now conduct a referendum on the new proposals in the coming days.
“Therefore, all the strike action which was due to start on Friday 13th October, Tuesday 17th October and Monday 30th October 2017 has been suspended and our members are instructed to work as normal on those days.
“This shows yet again what can be achieved when trade union members stand together. It is a tribute to our members that the union has been able to make Stagecoach South West come back to the table with an improved offer.”
A spokesperson for Stagecoach South West said: "Following discussions with senior union officials we can confirm that the strike action planned for 13, 17 and 30 October has been suspended, pending a referendum of members on a revised proposal.
"We are therefore pleased to confirm our services will operate as normal on these days, avoiding any disruption to vital transport links for the community."
