Continued Growth for ambitious property developer
Leading luxury property developer, Burrington Estates, has appointed two new members to its growing team. The double hire of a Development Director and Community Manager comes at a time when the South West-based developer continues to expand, delivering on its purpose to create beautiful living and working environments, build enduring communities and improve the quality of lives.
John Harvey has been recruited to fulfil the Community Manager position whilst Peter Quincey will become Burrington Estates’ Development Director.
As Community Manager, John will be responsible for liaising with internal and external stakeholders for Burrington Estates. Internally, he will be encouraging and nurturing the interaction between the extended Burrington Estates family. Here, buyers, renters, partners and suppliers are invited to network with one another to grow an enduring community that will cultivate mutually beneficial business relationships, as well as meaningful personal connections. Externally, John will also be focused on expanding and growing the lasting legacy of the brand through community engagement, striving to create long-term and strong bonds within the local communities that stretch across the full breadth of the Burrington Estates portfolio.
John has strong links in the local Exeter community, as he held the position of City Centre Manager for 19 years where he was instrumental in helping successfully deliver the Princesshay scheme; a regeneration that led to the dramatic transformation of Exeter City Centre in 2007. Following this, John has also sat for a period as an Exeter City Councillor.
Burrington Estates has always planned to have a dedicated community liaison function within their team to continually explore the thoughts and ideas of the community, maximising the benefit of their developments and delivering a lasting legacy. John will be producing a strategic plan to be implemented across Burrington Estates’ entire portfolio which will focus on growing relationships on a local level. He has already begun making connections by reaching out to community groups and individuals at locations across Devon, and endeavours to continue to do so to make this role as collaborative as possible.
John Harvey, Community Manager, said: “Working with communities to nurture relationships and understand their needs is a deep-rooted passion of mine. I’m incredibly excited to be joining the most go-ahead of regional developers, to help them nurture their internal community to become an even greater contributor to communities across the region and to ensure the Burrington legacy delivers community benefits for years to come.”
Co-Founder of Burrington Estates, Paul Scantlebury, said: “From Burrington Estates’ inception, the ambition has been to create a community-focused role within the team as community engagement is integral to every project we undertake. When searching for the right person to fit the Community Manager role, John was not only the strongest candidate in terms of experience and knowledge but the best fit in terms of relationship building and personal integrity. We have yet to meet someone more dedicated to benefiting the community and delivering projects that everyone can be proud of. He’s without a doubt, perfect for this role.”
Peter Quincey has also been appointed to the growing Burrington Estates team as Development Director. Peter is a chartered planning and development surveyor with 15 years of experience. During this time, Peter has successfully delivered a wide range of commercial, leisure and residential projects working with both private and public sector organisations. As Development Director, Peter will be responsible for managing Burrington Estates’ commercial portfolio and delivering new projects from land assembly through to planning, construction and sales.
As Director at Grenadier Estates, Peter was responsible for the full development management process on residential and commercial projects. His role for Grenadier challenged the norm within the development industry as the ethos of the company was to achieve high quality with a strong sustainable focus. Prior to this, Peter was responsible for the development of the Exeter Science Park, which included bringing the MET office and other significant businesses into the complex.
Peter Quincey, Development Director, said: “What attracted me to Burrington Estates is their proactive nature and ability to move at pace but without ever compromising on quality – something I have witnessed being delivered consistently across their diverse portfolio of high quality projects across the region. From residential, office, student accommodation, light industrial and more, they are constantly pushing the boundaries and will never compromise on quality.
In a relatively short time, Burrington Estates has achieved an impressive and growing reputation across the South West and I’m really keen to be bringing my experience into the mix to become a part of their ongoing and upcoming projects.”
Founder and Group Managing Director of Burrington Estates, Mark Edworthy, said: “At Burrington Estates, we are always striving to add the very best talent to our team so we can continue to deliver outstanding projects and deliver on our purpose to create beautiful living and working environments, build enduring communities and improve the quality of lives. With the addition of Peter, we can continue our expansion further. His undoubted experience and knowledge in both high specification sustainable housing and commercial investment will prove invaluable, and he will be a tremendous asset to the development team. With our aims and ambitions for the future aligned, having Peter onboard will allow us to confidently embark on the next phase of our vision for our organisation.”
