McDonald's in Exeter celebrates long serving employee
Mark Thompson, who works at the Marsh Barton restaurant in Exeter, has recently celebrated 35 years with the company.
Mark began working at McDonald’s in 1983 as a Crew Member in the Friar Street restaurant in Reading and has since spent much of his career as a Shift Manager; running restaurants’ breakfast, day and night shifts. Mark currently works as a Customer Experience Manager four days a week and is responsible for ensuring the restaurant delivers the best possible customer care.
McDonald’s franchisee David Shawyer, who owns the Marsh Barton restaurant along with two other restaurants in Exeter, said, “We are very proud to have such a long serving employee working with us. Tommo is a credit to the business and has always been as asset to the team here. We recently marked Tommo’s work anniversary by gifting him with a weekend away- it’s a real achievement and we wanted to do something special!’
Mark Thompson said: “Since starting at McDonald’s all those years ago I’ve relished all of the opportunities to learn new skills and gain new qualifications to further my career. The team and customers at the restaurant here in Exeter are amazing, and it’s the people that really make the job what is it for me.”
McDonald’s benefits from employing people at different stages in their working lives, from young people looking for their first taste of work through to parents and later-life workers looking to get back into the work place. McDonald’s also offers opportunities for all its employees to gain formal qualifications that might have previously felt out of reach.
