Mike Coombes, Chair of Devon Hotels said: “We are so pleased with the amount raised for both charities. We are also really grateful to our members for raising such an amazing amount of money for these groups and for the prizes that they donated. Devon Hotels represents over 50 hotels and restaurants in the county and the work that both charities do is imperative to Devon’s tourism.”
Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director for Devon Air Ambulance Trust said: “We would like to thank Devon Hotels and its members for this fantastic donation and their support at their event. The funds raised will go towards helping to keep Devon’s two Air Ambulances flying.”
Hospitality Action was established in 1837 and offers vital assistance to all who work or have worked within the hospitality industry in the UK. They support people who have suffered life altering illness or who might be experiencing poverty, bereavement and domestic violence.
Hospitality Action will be running a York to London Cycle Challenge this year in aid of the charity. Guy Levenson Moores, head of Global Hospitality at Robert Welsh will be taking part, cycling 241 miles over 3 days, in aid of Hospitality action. The challenge will also incorporate sections of the Tour de France route. Guy is looking forward to the challenge saying, “Being a Devon boy that has worked in the family Exeter based catering business and then in the tabletop supply side of the hospitality market I thought it was about time I gave something back via a charity that helps hospitality people who have fallen on hard times. I am proud and very thankful to have the help of Devon hotels, who are helping raise money and awareness for the hospitality action charity”
