Charity offers trip of a lifetime to Africa
Local charity, Hospiscare is embarking on its first overseas challenge, taking people off the beaten track into one of the most unusual and exotic, natural environments on the planet – the Sahara Desert.
Hospiscare has teamed up with tour operator Different Travel, who specialise in overseas charity challenges and adventure holidays, to organise a five day, ATOL protected, Sahara Trek which runs from November 6 to 11, 2014.
Hospiscare Running and Challenge Fundraiser Celia Wilkinson said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Different Travel to offer the trip of a lifetime in support of Hospiscare. This bespoke trip for the charity is very exciting and offers our supporters a unique and once in a lifetime experience to raise funds for us.”
Lexi Quinton, Different Travel said: “The Sahara Desert trek not only offers stunning views of one of the most remote and inhospitable environments on the planet, but being part of a team all fundraising for the same cause means from the outset you have something very important in common and it’s incredible to see how quickly people develop strong bonds throughout the journey.
“The Sahara trek is different from other treks in that the route is so remote you are unlikely to see any other trekkers along the way, offering the chance to reflect on our hectic lives filled with people and noise. It’s a wonderful yet challenging experience that I would recommend to anyone; whether a seasoned hiker or someone wanting to step outside their comfort zone for the first time.”
Hospiscare is hosting an open evening at the Dryden Road hospice, Exeter, at 6pm on Wednesday November 27, where anyone interested can find out more about taking part in this hugely exciting life experience.
