Exeter firm backs Devon Racquetters
Sporting enthusiasts from a wheelchair badminton club in Devon will be able to enjoy new equipment, thanks to a generous donation from local heating oil supplier.
The Devon Racqueteers Club was formed in 2008 and is now the largest wheelchair badminton club in the UK. Members enjoy the social side of meeting together and playing for fun and have also had considerable success winning many gold and silver medals at various competitions.
Exeter based supplier, Emo Oil, donated £300 to the Devon Racqueteers after club secretary, Mike Follett, applied to the company for funding. The donation was made as part of Emo’s sporting heroes bursary scheme, which aims to support sports groups across Exeter.
Speaking about the donation, Mike said: “The donation is greatly appreciated and will make a difference to all of the members who use the club. We try to subsidise the cost to our members as much as our funds allow by providing kit, equipment and covering travel expenses.”
Steve Morgan, regional manager at Emo Oil, commented: “We launched the sports bursary campaign to help sporting individuals and teams who need extra support.
“As a local business we are always keen to support local people and groups. It is great that we have the opportunity to give something back through the sports bursary while also forming relationships within the community.”
