Spring Awakening Musical at Exeter Phoenix
Shotgun Theatre presents the three time Tony award-winning Musical 'Spring Awakening' at The Exeter Phoenix.
Originally a controversial German play by Frank Wedekind which was banned for a short time due to it's intimate topics, has since been altered for Broadway performances with music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater.
Spring Awakening illustrates a blunt portrayal of the break-through that teenagers experience when delving into the adult world.
This Musical embarks on a powerful story following 14-year old Wendla and her journey into a dark and damaging sexual relationship. Spring Awakening explores homosexuality, intimacy and trauma.
"If we’re very lucky, once in a generation an unexpected new musical comes along and changes everything. That is the thrilling achievement of Spring Awakening." John Heilpern, The New York Observer.
The production team of Spring Awakening wanted to give everyone a chance to see what the Musical has to offer, with a performance being held in Exeter's Princesshay Shopping centre.
A fantastic Musical being performed locally at one of Exeter's favourite event venues. So, why not go along and enjoy the performance, maybe it will open your mind to explore something it hasn't before!
