Exeter charity chosen as a Surprise Supplies finalist
RGB Building Supplies has selected Exeter Community Initiatives as a finalist in its Surprise Supplies giveaway and it’s now down to a public vote to see if it is one of two finalists chosen to receive £1,000 worth of building materials.
Exeter Community Initiatives helps people facing poverty, inequality and homelessness to get their lives back on track. It runs the Jelly children’s charity shop in Exeter which sells second-hand children’s clothes, shoes, toys and accessories, and provides baby changing and feeding facilities, as well as a space at the back of the shop for children to play. The shop also helps those who are out of work gain retail skills.
The Jelly shop is in need of refurbishment and, if voted as a Surprise Supplies winner, Exeter Community Initiatives will use the £1,000 worth of materials for this purpose.
Paul West, Branch Manager at RGB Exeter, where Exeter Community Initiatives would use the £1,000 donation, commented:
“For our latest Surprise Supplies call out we received over 150 nominations from across the region, so congratulations to Exeter Community Initiatives for being chosen as a finalist. The charity and its Jelly shop does fantastic work to support people and families in our area and, as its local RGB branch, we want to encourage our community to show their support and vote.”
Exeter Community Initiatives is up against 7th Exmouth Scout Troop, Bridgerule CofE Primary School, Cedar Grange Care Home in Launceston, Chilled Out Youth Space in Torquay, Gilead Foundations in Okehampton, Ilfracombe & North Devon Sub Aqua Club, In the Mix Project in Wiveliscombe, Swimbridge Primary School and Woodside Animal Welfare Trust in Plymouth.
The vote will take place between Monday 14th February and 8am on Monday 28th February. Votes cast outside these dates will not be counted. Only one vote per person via one method of voting will be counted. Votes can be made by visiting RGB’s Facebook page and liking the photo in the Surprise Supplies album that represents the group being voted for, or by emailing RGB@pmwcom.co.uk and putting the name of the group in the subject line.
The two finalists that receive the most votes will receive £1,000 each to spend at their local RGB branch.
