Co Cars heads in a new direction

Co Cars, the on demand shared mobility organisation based in Exeter, is pleased to announce Nic Eversett as its new managing director. Nic’s background combines extensive business strategy, sales, and marketing experience alongside Chair of the Board of Trustees for Exeter’s Ride On cycling charity.

Nic has worked closely with Co Cars for the past 18 months and will focus on expanding the roll out of the company’s low carbon, on-demand services across the South West. He takes over the role from founder Mark Hodgson who is on sabbatical before returning to the business in 2023 as a senior consultant.

Originally founded in 2005 with a single car, Co Cars now has a fleet of 50 electric and low-emission shared cars and 200+ Co Bikes e-bikes, all available to hire an app. With a combined membership of over 10,000, Co Cars gives people access to affordable transport whilst also helping tackle congestion and lower pollution.

Nic Eversett comments on his new role; “It is an honour to be appointed as managing director of Co Cars. Mark has been the face of the business almost two decades and lived and breathed the organisation, making him a tough act to follow. However, I’m looking forward to sitting in the driving seat and taking the business forward alongside our stakeholders and partners.”

Chris Leigh-Brown, Chair of the Co Cars Board adds: “I’d like to wish Mark all the best on his well-earned travels and thank him for his outstanding work during his time at the helm. In equal measure I’d like to welcome Nic as managing director. I’m looking forward to working with Nic strategically and to see the organisation go from strength to strength.”

Co Cars is a cooperative not for profit social enterprise that provides innovative, affordable, on-demand, on-street shared mobility services, giving people access to transport that is low-carbon, reduces costs and lowers pollution, helping make our towns and cities better places to live.
