Experience a traditional Victorian Christmas by night at Knightshayes on the outskirts of Tiverton on 12, 13, 19 and 20 December.

Visit the house after hours, from 4pm to 8pm, to enjoy seeing its festive decorations lit up by candles and fairy lights; and discover the stories behind some well-loved Christmas traditions such as crackers and mistletoe.

On Friday 12 December, at 4pm, the illuminations will be switched on. The outside of the house, formal garden terraces and woodland gardens will be bathed in colour allowing people to explore them after dark for the first time ever.

Father Christmas will also be sitting by the fire in the smoking room, ready to welcome young visitors with a gift and then a craft activity in the elf workshop. Normal admission costs apply and it is £4 per child to see Father Christmas.

The café will also be open serving a whole range of festive menus. All of the food is made from locally-sourced produce, much of it grown in the organic kitchen garden. It’s the perfect way to relax after exploring everything Knightshayes has to offer. While at the stables, why not pick up the perfect gift for a loved one in the National Trust shop.
