H&M in Exeter was evacuated today after smoke was reported in the premises.

Three fire appliances from Danes Castle and Middlemoor, together with an aerial ladder platform from Danes Castle, attended the incident.

On arrival crews confirmed the shop had been evacuated and set to work investigating the source of the smoke.

The cause of the smoke was found to be a small door heater on the ground floor of the shop which was extinguished by isolating the power supply .

Crews cleared the smoke with a  ventilation fan and used a short extension ladder to check the roof void above the door as a precaution. Damage was confined to the door heater only and no one was injured.
