Nick Baker shares his fascination with bones at RAMM

On Saturday 14 September, naturalist and broadcaster Nick Baker will share his fascination with one of the most important collections of bones in the body – skulls.

With a selection of skulls from his and the collection at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) Nick will take an informative, intimate, sometimes surreal and irreverent look into the world of skulls and a skull collector. He will explore the origins, purpose and mechanics of these bones and how they develop, and delve into the realm of symbolism and imagery.

Nick has been a bone collector all his life, fascinated in particular with the many aspects of the skull. A skull is on one hand the perfect example of form and function and on the other, a thing of great sculptural beauty.

Author and broadcaster Nick has written eight books and presented many popular shows for television and radio, including BBC, Channel Five, National Geographic and Animal Planet. Programmes include Springwatch, The Really Wild Show and Weird Creatures.
