PaddleBoat Theatre Company begin Summer Tour
Children and Families in Exeter will be able catch both of PaddleBoat Theatre Company's exciting new shows - A Little Man's Holiday and According to Arthur... - when they perform at the BikeShed Theatre later this month, on the 22nd and 23rd July respectively.
PaddleBoat was founded a mere 18 months ago, but has flourished in Exeter, creating shows and delivering workshops to schools across the South-West. Now, the company is preparing to travel to the largest theatre festival in the world - The Edinburgh Festival Fringe - with preview performances at theatres in Bristol, Maidenhead and right here in Exeter.
Their first show, 'A Little Man's Holiday', is a vibrant, swashbuckling adventure that tells the story of an ordinary man with an ordinary job who dreams of leaving the dull city behind and going on a pirate adventure across the high seas. With a little help from his mother, and everyone in the audience, Little Man is able to live out his dreams and become the greatest pirate the world has ever seen.
Their second show is called 'According to Arthur...', and was developed alongside a creative residency with White Rock Primary School in Torbay. It tells the tale of an old man who lives all alone in his attic, with only the moon for company. But one night, the moon disappears, leaving Arthur to dig deep into his exciting past to find the courage to reconnect with the outside world and find his spirit of adventure once more. Both shows are full of beautiful visuals and inventive storytelling, and are perfect for audiences of all ages.
There's an extra special treat for families in Exeter - at 3:30 before each show, PaddleBoat are offering an exclusive storytelling workshop for families. This will be the perfect chance for budding performers to work with the Company to create their own stories and unleash their own imaginations. It costs £5 for children, and their adults can go free. It'll be the last chance to see this inventive company for a while, as they'll be off travelling up the country to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, performing both their shows for a whole month. But rest assured, they'll be back in the autumn with new stories to share, and new surprises for everyone.
