THEATRE

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
Friday, Saturday & Sunday, Barnfield Theatre, Exeter
……suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her. Lewis Carroll’s famous story, one of the best-loved books ever written, is magically brought to life by Exeter College’s BTEC Performing Arts Department. Alice’s adventures lead her down the rabbit-hole, where she embarks on a magical journey through Wonderland meeting The Mad Hatter, The Mock Turtle, The Cheshire-Cat and even has time for a spot of flamingo croquet with the Queen of Hearts. 7pm on Friday and Saturday, 1.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Tickets £9 adult, £7 conc, family £25. Me and Mr C
Friday & Saturday, 7.30pm, Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter
Mr C sits inside your head and watches. He sees all you see, knows all you know, hears all you hear and sometimes, if you are very unlucky, he tells you what he thinks of it all. Gary Kitching is an improviser, actor and comedian and Me and Mr. C is his funny and disturbing rendering of what it is like to have a voice in your head that explains to you with authority, purpose and well referenced arguments, that you are a worthless piece of shit. American Idiot

Double Platinum selling artist Newton Faulkner joins X Factor finalist Amelia Lily in Green Day’s explosive award-winning Broadway musical. American Idiot is the story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9/11 world. Los Pacaminos

Songs for Singers

The Exeter Singers, conducted by Tony Yates are holding a charity concert in aid of the “Meet and Remember Club”, a newly formed charity serving local people and in particular those with early or moderate dementia.  The club meets weekly on Wednesdays at The Beacon, Beacon Heath.  The choir will be performing a variety of music, from madrigals to Cole Porter, interspersed with poetry and solo piano and voice. RSPB family friendly nature walk

Family friendly walks which showcase the beautiful surrounding farmland and wetlands - a great chance to get out and see some wildlife. The RSPB’s resident expert will be alongside to answer questions and point things out. 2pm-3pm (binoculars available for hire). RSPB members free, non-members £3.

Community Treasure Hunt
Saturday, 1pm, Honiton Rugby Club
Everyone is welcome to take part in a walking treasure hunt and barbecue, to raise funds for new gymnastics equipment for Honiton Gymnastics Club. Starting at 1pm, the fun afternoon for all the family. The Treasure Hunt is open to teams of between one and six. £1 entry per person, under fives free. Barbecue food will be ready to buy at 1pm and run though out the afternoon until all gone.  Bar at the Rugby Club will be open all afternoon. Take a peek at private gardens in Exeter

Then pop along to see six gardens in Matford Avenue, Matford Road, Leighdene Close and St Leonard’s Road, five of which are opening for the first time. Sean Lynch: The Weight of the World
Saturday, Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery, Queen Street, Exeter
In this solo exhibition Irish artist Sean Lynch presents three new artworks commissioned by Spacex and inspired by aspects of RAMM’s collection. The exhibition also features the UK premier of the video artwork Adventure: Capital, produced to represent Ireland at Venice Biennale 2015. Throughout his work Lynch caries out investigations into stories, historical records, and places, creating idiosyncratic narratives that signal new understanding and questions.
Opening Event and Artist Talk, 3pm-5pm on 14 May at Exeter Phoenix. The exhibition continues at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery until 2 July, open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am-5pm, free entry. 

Posters from the Past Masters
From Sunday, Brook Gallery, Exeter
Many of the world's leading artists have enjoyed making posters for their exhibitions. These often took the form of original lithographs, printed by some of the great Parisian ateliers. The poster, by nature, is ephemeral and mint copies are rare so Brook Gallery are delighted to exhibit a selection of these striking prints. Inspired by Dartmoor
Dartmoor National Park Visitor Centre, Princetown
Visitors to the National Park Visitor Centre in Princetown can enjoy an exhibition of the work of four members of the West Dartmoor Art Group. David Mather, Peter Blake, John Streeter and Gloria Sprague will be exhibiting a selection of paintings in different media, all inspired by their love of Dartmoor.  The exhibition runs until Thursday 30 June and the centre is open daily,10am-5pm. http://www.dartmoor.gov.uk/visiting
