Baroque Theatre bring Veronica's Room to Exeter

Norwich-based Baroque Theatre Company has announced full details of its 15th national tour.

The chilling thriller Veronica’s Room, by American playwright, the late Ira Levin, is directed by Adam Morley and will tour to venues across England between 5th August and 28th October, arriving in Exeter on Tuesday 11th October at the Cygnet Theatre.

Veronica’s Room, by the author who also penned horror classics Rosemary’s Baby and Deathtrap, promises to take audiences into a spider’s web of fantasy, reality and danger.

Veronica’s Room tells the story of Susan Kerner, a young beautiful Boston college student who is on a date with the charming Larry Eastwood in 1973. The young lovers find themselves at The Brabissant mansion owned by the Mackeys, an elderly Irish couple instantly struck by Susan’s strong resemblance to long since dead Veronica Brabissant. Together they enter Veronica’s room, untouched since 1935 and nothing will ever be the same!

The mystery of Veronica’s Room deepens as twist after twist unravels the threads of life’s reality. Is it 1973 or is it in fact 1935? Veronica’s Room is a fascinating piece of suspense drama full to the brim with mystery and intrigue.

The production’s director is award-winning Adam Morley. No stranger to radio, TV and theatre, Morley has directed over sixty productions including Newsrevue, the world’s longest running live comedy show at the Canal Café Theatre in London. To date, Morley has directed twelve productions for Baroque Theatre Company including Great Expectations in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens in 2010, Up Pompeii, The 101 Dalmatians, Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Carol, The Great Santa Kidnap and Kindly Leave the Stage. Morley is the associate director at Canal Café Theatre and artistic director of Baroque Theatre Company.

We last toured Veronica's Room in 2012 on a much smaller scale. Now in 2016, Baroque’s sixth year, we tour this ‘on the edge of your seat’ drama to an incredible 19 UK theatres from Penzance in the south to Carlisle in the north and everywhere in between.”

The drama is brought to life by Baroque Theatre Company regular actors: Paul Cleveland (as The Man); Claire Bibby (as The Woman); Talitha Willsea (as The Girl); and new to Baroque, Ed Allenby (as The Young Man).

Lighting and sound design is by Adam Morley, stage management by Katie Patrick, costume designer by Suzanne Bell and set build by Matt Nunn.
