Exeter designer chosen by national retailer to run workshops
Exeter knitwear designer, Lauren Aston, has been handpicked to host a series of workshops throughout the region with national clothing retailer, Joules.
The workshops, which will take place during November and December, take place in Joules stores in Exeter and Cribbs Causeway in Bristol.
Lauren, 27, who works from her home studio in Exeter, will be using it as a chance to show people how to design and make their own chunky knit Santa hats, using jumbo needles and wool.
‘Since starting my business nearly three years ago, I’ve been inundated by people asking me to show them how to knit their own hats, blankets and scarves. These workshops with Joules provided me with the perfect opportunity and I can’t wait to get started!’ said Lauren.
Lauren’s business has gone from strength to strength since starting it in 2014. Having graduated with a degree in knitwear, she began to create a series of statement pieces for the home, and had some giant, 40mm knitting needles custom made. Using merino wool, which she treats and finishes by hand, Lauren sold her cushions, blankets, footstools and throws online, and hasn’t looked back.
Since then, her work has been featured in The Sunday Times, The Daily Mail, Country Living, and Living Etc. As well as her readymade range, Lauren has recently launched some ‘DIY’ products, so that customers may learn how to create these unique products themselves, from the comfort of their own homes.
