Experience ‘A Year on Dartmoor’ in just one day
Visitors to Devon Guild gallery can experience ‘A Year on Dartmoor’ in just one day: acclaimed Devon Guild printmaker, Anita Reynolds, has visited 365 square miles of Dartmoor National Park and represented her journey with various artworks.
Her new solo exhibition (open May 19th) includes print, painting and installations, supported by sketchbooks, on-site monoprints, photography and film.
Known for her immersive techniques, spending large amounts of time working outside, and revisiting Dartmoor locations at different times of the year, Anita's mark-making is both gestural and energetic. Her dynamic work is a response to the moor in all of its changing weather conditions and reflects all seasons as they impact on the landscape and its inhabitants. Inspired by her surroundings, she often writes poetical notes in her sketchbook:
'Rich reds, silver greys, rain making the soil glisten, skies melting into land. Snow melts and all signs of Spring are lost again'
Pushing the boundaries of printmaking techniques, she's constantly exploring new ways of representing her ideas. The wide range of media and innovative use of new and unusual materials satisfies her constant need to invent and make. The exhibition is free entry and runs until 1 July 2018.
Related events are a Free 'Hands On' print workshop for kids on 31 May. Also 'A Way In' - creative development workshop day on 17 June in the gallery with lunch (£50. Phone to book.)
