McClure Solicitors are still raising lots of money for Charity!
As lots of businesses and services have come to a standstill, McClure Solicitors saw this coming and prepared for action. They would normally be seeing over 800 clients for face-to-face appointments per month but with the Government’s advice to stay at home that is exactly what their staff has done – gone home armed with laptops and mobile phones. Andrew Robertson, Managing Director of McClure says “We are worried like everyone else about the immediate future, but we still have clients who want to talk to us so we decided we would continue to operate as best as we could with the majority of our 100+ staff based at home. We have a skeleton staff in our head office to process mail and scan it to their colleagues at home. A small group of staff volunteered to help out – none of these are at risk, do not present a risk to family at home and are able to drive to the office so to avoid public transport”
Andrew continues: “We are able to take instructions over the phone, or even better via video call through WhatsApp, Skype or Zoom. The video call is proving to be very popular with over 60% choosing this option. Clients feel they are still at a face-to-face appointment as they can see the McClure member of staff. As so many of our clients are in the 60+ age group they have been self-isolating at home and will be missing the company of seeing and talking to people, so this is a chance to have a natter and sort out your estate planning!”
McClure Solicitors are famous for raising lots of money for Charity. For the last two years they are the No. 1 Solicitor in the UK in raising money for the Will Aid national campaign. And they are partnered with over 170 UK Charities offering a Legal Service for Estate Planning. You can see a list of their partners at https://www.mcclure-solicitors.co.uk/charity-partners . The majority of the charity supporters who use the legal service take advantage of the Free Wills Service or Will Review Service for those who already have a Will. All McClure ask is you consider a donation for the charity. The McClure Free Will service has been in operation since 1984 and works because 50% of the clients also take McClure’s advice on other legal services apart from Wills – mainly Power of Attorney, which they claim is probably the best value in the UK at £199, and Trusts which are used to protect clients assets for very specific reasons.
McClure Solicitors raised over £325,000 in cash donations last year for their Charity Partners, and a third of their clients also pledged £63 million as Gifts in their Wills for charity. As you sit at home possibly worrying about the future maybe this is the time to pick up the phone and get your estate planning sorted. As Andrew says “We can’t predict what the future holds. But we can plan for the future to ensure our hard earned savings and homes go to the family we love – so what are you waiting for?”
