Honiton woman joins RAF Benevolent Fund to celebrate its centenary

Earlier this week, the daughter of an RAF pilot who was killed in a flying accident in 1998 joined the RAF Benevolent Fund to celebrate the charity’s 100th anniversary. It marked the occasion by hosting an afternoon tea at the RAF Club followed by a reception at St James’s Palace hosted by the charity’s President, His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent. Browne Jacobson trainees smash fundraising target in ride, trek and sleep-out charity challenge

Twenty-six Browne Jacobson trainees have raised over £11k for the firm’s five charity partners after completing the last of three endurance testing events this weekend.

The final challenge saw 14 of the trainees forfeiting their home comforts by taking part in an Autumnal Sleep Out in the firm’s office gardens in Nottingham that tied in with National Homeless Awareness Week.

The group smashed their £7k target set out earlier in the year with all the proceeds being divided equally between all five partner charities.

Business communications company IP Office has affirmed its commitment to Exeter City Football Club in a new sponsorship deal to support the club’s academy.

Plans for Community Playing Field Receive Boost

Plans by St Leonards Neighbourhood Association to maintain Mount Radford Lawn as a playing field were given a boost this week following a recommendation from the city council planning department to reject planning permission for housing on the site. Bikeability cycle training will be provided to more than 7,000 children in Devon next year thanks to a successful bid by Devon County Council.

Devon is receiving a £280,000 grant through the initiative as part of the Government’s announcement of £13 million funding nationwide for next year’s programme.
