Exeter’s key role in the surrealist art movement will be celebrated through a new exhibition as the world’s key experts in the genre come to the city.

An influential exhibition in the city, The Enchanted Domain, in 1967, helped to revive surrealism in Britain. It was part of the Exeter Festival of Modern Arts, organised by bookseller John Lyle.

Help to Buy makes the difference for home buyers in Devon

More than 5,500 homebuyers in Devon have used the government’s Help to Buy scheme with the vast majority being first time buyers.

Latest government figures reveal that 5,633 buyers in Devon have used the scheme since it was launched in April 2013.

The figures reveal first time buyers accounted for 84 per cent of sales and local housebuilder Barratt Homes says the scheme has been a real game changer for many people.

Exeter businesses gear up for children’s charity sports day

On Tuesday 17th September, members of the local business community will be battling it out in the inaugural CHICKS Superstar Games, hosted in Princesshay, Exeter, to help raise awareness and funds for the Devon-based national children’s charity.

The mock sports day will see the likes of Grow Magazine, Air Marketing, Attention Media, Burrington Estates and KTA go head-to-head competing in a mix of classic sports day activities including the egg and spoon dash, three-legged race and sack relay, as well as battling it out in heats including an obstacle relay.

To celebrate Devon Open Studios 2019, Rainbow Living has launched a Charity Art Auction , with work donated by three local artists.

Unique 16-sided scaffolding helps keep A la Ronde safe and dry

Some one-of-a-kind 16-sided scaffolding has been created around the roof of A la Ronde, the National Trust’s quirky 16-sided house near Exmouth, meaning work can begin to make it watertight and keep the 223-year-old unique shell gallery housed inside the roof, safe and dry.

The team behind the plan to repair the 16-sided historic house say a survey commissioned by the National Trust showed that some urgent repairs were needed to the roof to help the charity continue to protect the shell gallery, made up of thousands of delicate artefacts ranging from sea shells to bird feathers....
