Miss Stacia Blake, born 1952 in Redhills, Exeter made an extraordinary and unannounced performance at this year’s sold out Kozfest (Kozmic Kens Psychedelic Dream Festival).

Network Rail commits to summer of Dawlish beach cleans

Network Rail has announced that throughout the summer, staff will be undertaking regular beach cleans along the Dawlish sea front to help keep the beach clean and free from rubbish. The commitment follows the break in work to improve the resilience of the sea wall between Dawlish station and Kennaway tunnel over the peak tourist season.

At least once a week, during low tide, staff will meet to keep the popular beach clear of litter.

Savvy South West savers lead the #FixFirst charge!

A survey by the UK’s leading online spare parts retailer, eSpares, has found that residents from the South West are saving money and protecting the environment by taking the time to fix broken household appliances. 46% of the region would prefer to have items repaired than needlessly throw them away. Results also found the main reason for residents in the region fixing appliances themselves being ‘to save the cost of buying new’ at 61%, the highest in the UK.

Domestic abuse bill requires significant cash investment says Exeter lawyer

Exeter lawyer Penny Scott, who has contributed to the consultation on the Domestic Abuse Bill which is now being debated in Parliament, says more investment is needed if the Bill is to be effective.

Penny, who is a partner at Cartridges Law and chair of the Family Law Committee of the Law Society, said it was part of the business of the Committee to respond to bills of this nature with recommendations.

The bill had its first reading this month in the House of Commons and will be debated following its second reading on a date due to be announced.
