Christmas comes early to the Bramble Ward thanks to Exeter City stars

There were some extra special visitors to Bramble Ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital this week.

Exeter City Football Club’s first-team players took time out of their busy training schedule to visit children and teenagers on the ward – some of whom will be spending the festive period in hospital.

The players delivered dozens of bears, toys, calendars, footballs and signed merchandise to the young patients.

Last Thursday, the School Council from Exeter Deaf Academy presented at Devon County Hall Council Chambers. The deaf students aged between 15-16 years old stood up and delivered a confident presentation to the Chamber in British Sign Language (BSL), articulating the need for regional TV news programmes to be accessible for all, and explained their goal was for the Southwest’s regional TV broadcasters to lead the way for the rest of the UK.

Sole traders, micro businesses, and small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) in Devon, Somerset, Plymouth and Torbay are being reminded that they can still apply for 12 hours of fully-funded business support.

The Heart of the South West Growth Support Programme, overseen by Devon County Council, provides access to one-to-one business support and advice in an array of areas, including digital marketing.
