The UK’s favourite singing show, The X Factor, is back and on the lookout for the next big breakout music stars with the audition team back on the road, scouring the country for budding hopefuls to take part in series 16 of the hit music show.

Exmouth tidal defence scheme gets planning go-ahead

The Environment Agency scheme to reduce the risk of tidal flooding to more than 1,800 properties was granted planning permission on Tuesday by East Devon District Council’s Development Management Committee.

This flagship £12m scheme is being funded by Government grant in aid and will reduce the risk of flooding to over 1,400 homes and 400 businesses in Exmouth.

Under the Hybrid application Full Planning Permission was granted for the tidal defence scheme comprising of flood walls, embankments and flood gates for the areas around the Estuary and Camperdown Creek.

Pupils, teachers and parents from schools across Devon walked, cycled and scooted their way to school during December for the Sustrans ‘Leg it to Lapland’ winter challenge. Sixteen schools took part in a race to be the first school to travel the 2,100 miles - the equivalent of travelling from Devon to Lapland.

A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for dog fouling and control will be introduced across Teignbridge from 1 April following a decision by Full Council today. Teignbridge made a commitment to review its policy on dog fouling and restricted access across the district’s open spaces and beaches through its 10-year Council Strategy, a long-term plan of action aimed at making Teignbridge and healthy and more desirable place where people want to live, work and visit. Topsham gas works to begin

Wales & West Utilities is kicking off the new year with a gas pipe investment scheme in the Bridge Hill area of Topsham.

The £105,000 investment work, which begins next week (21 January), will involve upgrading 70 metres of old metal gas pipes to new plastic ones and will help keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area so that people are kept safe and warm for generations to come.
