Exeter climbs ranking of best employers for LGBT staff

The University of Exeter has been named as one of the top-200 best employers in Britian for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff.

The University has climbed more than 100 places to 163rd in the high-profile rankings, published by leading charity Stonewall on 31 January.

The ranking, now in its 14th year, celebrates the efforts of leading organisations to create inclusive workplaces and is based on a range of key indicators which include confidential questionnaire of staff.

Cornwall Garage Group Ltd, which owns 18 petrol forecourts across England, has announced plans to install rapid electric vehicle (EV) chargers.

The company is working with InstaVolt to install and maintain the DC chargers at nine of its sites:

Alzheimer’s patient encourages others to sign up to take part in dementia research

A retired pottery shop owner with early Alzheimer’s disease has said research has given him a new hope for life.

Eighty-year-old Martin Wallis, from Honiton, is currently taking part in a clinical trial at Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust.

The study, being supported by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) in the South West, the research arm of the NHS, is one of many being carried out locally looking to halt the progression of dementia, the biggest killer in the UK.
