Proposals to extend the length of time Exeter Bus Station can remain open during work to build its replacement are due to be discussed by the council’s Leisure Complex and Bus Station Programme Board. Following the decision of developer the Crown Estate to withdraw its plans to create a retail and leisure development at the site, it is now possible to keep the bus station fully open until May 2018. Housebuilder brings £24 million investment to local area

Five star housebuilder Barratt Developments, which has its regional headquarters in Exeter, has built 520 homes in the south west during the past year and brought around £24 million to communities where it is constructing new developments.

The figures form part of the company’s socio-economic footprint, and reveal just how the local economy has benefitted from the new housing.

Coffee fans visiting the Rusty Pig in Ottery St Mary can now enjoy a specially roasted coffee courtesy of Exeter artisan micro-roaster, Crankhouse Coffee.

Rusty Pig ‘El Salvador’ coffee has been created by Dave Stanton to appeal to restaurant owner Robin Rea’s preference for a darker roast and fits in with the restaurant’s ethos for seasonality.

Overnight closures at Junction 30 of the M5 next week

Junction 30 of the M5 will be closed overnight next week in order to complete line painting work at Sandygate roundabout.

The roundabout was resurfaced before Christmas but poor weather conditions prevented the scheme from being finished.

Devon County Council has now scheduled additional overnight closures for Monday 22 January, Tuesday 23 January and Wednesday 24 January for the work to be carried out.

Football team with a difference targets weight loss goals

EXETER health and wellbeing charity, CITY Community Trust is aiming to help local men score their weight loss goals in 2018 - through an innovative football league.

The charity has partnered with Get Active Exeter to launch MAN v FAT, an FA-endorsed football league for UK men who are overweight or obese.

Seven lawyers with Devon based law firm Wollen Michelmore LLP have been promoted to Associate status within the practice. The appointments bring the total number of Associates within the firm to 17 and follow the appointment of eight new Associates in 2017.
